Viva La Vida, Coldplay Cover art

Gotta love the Brits, Coldplay and their new album, Viva La Vida.
The cover art work uses the painting La Liberté guidant le peuple by Eugene Delacroix of 1830. A goddess like woman personifies as Liberty, leads the people over the fallen bodies of the French Revolution. Here in the states the Statue of Liberty parallels as the American version, which by the way was given by the French. The Caravaggio influence use of light is an optimistic approach against the dark sentiment of war. It is currently held at the Louvre in Paris for viewers to enjoy.

The title of the album "Viva La Vida" means long live life. Chris Martin discovered the term fitting after seeing it on a Frida Kahlo painting. “She went through a lot of shit, of course, and then she started a big painting in her house that said ‘Viva la Vida,’” says Martin. “I just loved the boldness of it.”-Chris Martin in Rolling Stone Mag.
