Swarsovki Bike

Swarovski Crystal and 24k Gold Plated Bike Is The World's Most Expensive

Need I say more???? Thanks to BetseyJ for the tip (who happens to be one of my new fav bloggers and twitter friend) I was resorted to google "24k Swarovski crystal bike" and sure 'nuf VOILA!

The limited to ten crystal and gold bike was created by a company named Aurumania, whose self-proclaimed purpose is to conceive of and design items with the extravagant use of gold, thereby turning familiar objects into collectible art. Their collection thus far consists of fifty 24 karat gold plated bikes, a gold plated bike rack and the special Swarovski crystal adorned 24 karat plated version. As one would expect for these prices, their products are hand delivered anywhere in the world.

This is one good looking piece of art in my opinion. Brooks saddle, adorned with crystals, 24k plated - everything... yea... 1 of 50? How bout you send one over my way... or perhaps just the wall rack that comes with it. Thanks. I'll have 2 please.

DimePiece Designs (swag not included)

Parachute Hoodie $86

This female empowering street wear line is definitely making their presence known with an exciting new Holiday 08' Collection featuring more cut & sew pieces like this really hot hoodie that I might need to get in both colors.

If you know me, I'm not a casual type of girl so I really like the structure and drape of this piece.

Check out their brand spanking new website to shop the latest collection, get inspiration, to figure out what DimePiece actually means if you didn't know already, and to see why this line is not going anywhere, anytime soon.

Camping Design Studios

Gotta love the stuff from Camping Design Studios. The office is in Paris France and their work below is for Pierre Martin-Vivier. The identity and branding solution for this publication is simple, clean and has little characteristics that make it unique. Can you name that typeface? Cause I'd like to know...

Unison Home

Time after time I get tired of the quality of Ikea but love their design sensibility. I think of home furnishing and bedding as an investment because of the long hours at work. Quality and longevity are key issues that Ikea just cant deliver. So if you are looking for that design aesthetics that is clean and modern check out: Unison Home. Below is information from the Unison Home website:

Unison was formed by Robert Segal + Alicia Rosauer with the vision that modern design can be a livable, breathable, everyday part of life. After four years of designing and living in Finland, they decided to bring their design sensibilities back to America. Robert and Alicia combine their extensive background of textile design and photography to create products that offer a minimalist style with emphasis on color and innovative print design.

Unison’s first collection of printed bedding and throw pillows mix organic and graphic inspired motifs for a modern and colorful look. When designing textiles, Robert and Alicia are inspired by nature, architecture, photography, traditional textiles and textural patterns – what they see living in Chicago, in their travels, in their everyday.

Our Type, Premium fonts from the Netherlands

Our Type, Premium fonts from the Netherlands. Available on Fontshop.com

OurType holds a special place in FontShop’s heart because it was co-founded by the clever captain of our Benelux operation, Rudy Geeraerts. The foundry was born in 2002 when Rudy teamed up with Fred Smeijers who is internationally known for his writing and lectures, but above all, for his type designs. Smeijers’ work is sought after by designers seeking to dip into the deep well of contemporary Dutch typography.

Six years later, OurType is now one of the world’s preeminent font collections with over a dozen extensive families from both established designers and promising young guns. This latest batch includes several new releases along with existing typefaces updated to OurType’s OTF Pro format which supports the Latin Extended character set and OpenType extras like case-sensitive forms and additional figure styles.

Advice For Design Students

Advice For Design Students from UnBeige on Vimeo

Its that time of year again. The school year is at an end and we are approaching graduation season-weekends filled with Cranes paper announcements and dishing out the dollar as a reward for the graduates hard work. The perk about this time of year is that graduation reminds us of the advice we can give to those who are about to enter the "real world" and the memories of what it was like working our first year post college. My advice is that a design student is a student forever, you never stop learning. I've got to point out one of them "Shine your shoes. Brush your teeth."--thats awesome advice!

This video was prepared for the student symposium at the 2007 AIGA NEXT conference in Denver, design luminaries give their best advice and inspiration for students.

Nike 1/1 Art Prize, The Art of Football

Nike 1/1 film, by AKQA. Creatives: Davor Krvavac, Greg Mullen, Nick Bailey

Art and football become unlikely bedfellows in a new competition launched by Nike, which offers the chance for artists to exhibit during the Basel Art Fair and design a limited edition series of Nike Dunks.

Devised by AKQA, 1/1 invites artists to submit work to the brief ‘The Art of Football’. Works entered will be displayed in an online gallery where they will be judged by SHOWstudio’s Nick Knight - winning entrants will then see their work exhibited in a show held in Basel (coinciding with the contemporary art fair held in the city in June), alongside the work of 11 established creative talents.

One overall winner will then be chosen to have their work immortalised on a limited edition series of Nike Dunks, and the best work from the exhibition will also be included in a 1/1 book.

All work can be entered online at nike1-1.com. Submissions close on May 18.
