Swarsovki Bike

Swarovski Crystal and 24k Gold Plated Bike Is The World's Most Expensive

Need I say more???? Thanks to BetseyJ for the tip (who happens to be one of my new fav bloggers and twitter friend) I was resorted to google "24k Swarovski crystal bike" and sure 'nuf VOILA!

The limited to ten crystal and gold bike was created by a company named Aurumania, whose self-proclaimed purpose is to conceive of and design items with the extravagant use of gold, thereby turning familiar objects into collectible art. Their collection thus far consists of fifty 24 karat gold plated bikes, a gold plated bike rack and the special Swarovski crystal adorned 24 karat plated version. As one would expect for these prices, their products are hand delivered anywhere in the world.

This is one good looking piece of art in my opinion. Brooks saddle, adorned with crystals, 24k plated - everything... yea... 1 of 50? How bout you send one over my way... or perhaps just the wall rack that comes with it. Thanks. I'll have 2 please.

Get on The List

Dean's List. A-List. Guest List. Nice List. Hermes Birkin Bag Waiting List. And yet another coveted list to get on.

The List @ Revolve Clothing

So far there are just these 2 items available on The List...

Alex & Chloe
Forever Wedding Rings
W: $1892 M: $1804

These are too cute. Just might be enough to take the spotlight away from the engagement ring, and actually focus on the more meaningful symbol of marriage and the union of two people in love.

Goyard Trunk by Assouline
A mere $20,000

At this very moment there is one of these trunks left, but not sure if they are just saying that to make it seem like it is in demand, just like they make people wait in line for a club when there is barely anyone inside...

Just too unbelievable to spend this kind of money right now.

Space 15 Twenty: Shop.Art.Music.

Are you tired of malls, outlet malls, mini malls, outdoor malls....just need a new way to shop that will inspire you rather than drain your soul or your wallet? Yes? Then check out this new concept from Urban Outfitters...

"A new retail experiment in Hollywood, CA, Space 15 Twenty creates an opportunity for Urban Outfitters to collaborate with creative brands we find inspiring and interesting.

A courtyard leads from each store to an outdoor performance space and adjoining gallery. Both of which encourage designers and artists to become part of a curated environment. Working with neighboring music, film and art establishments, both courtyard and adjoining gallery will present a rotating cast of local musicians and artists.

The Urban Outfitters store will feature one-off installations by a new designer every few months. Alongside the 11,000 square foot Urban Outfitters store, Space 15 Twenty will host a selection of vendors. The revolving brands utilizing these spaces will reflect and compliment Urban Outfitters and present our customers with an overarching view of people and brands which are excited to be aligned with."

Peep the site to see current events and what designers/artists they are linked with at the moment. I'm definitely checking this out when I'm back in LA in December.

Yves Saint Laurent

Betty Catroux in YSL

I urge you to make your way to the City to be inspired and to celebrate this man's life, work, and legacy. San Francisco is the only US location to house this exhibit& I'm not sure when I'll be back in the Bay so please, do share with those of us not in the area.

Here I'll plan the day for you: Start off with the museum exhibit, then go to Golden Gate Park and have a picnic, take a walk, or have some tea while you reflect on the genius you just witnessed. Then go to dinner in North Beach and momentarily pretend you have left the country.

Exhibit Description (de Young Website):

In the 1960s Yves Saint Laurent made an indelible mark on fashion with clothing emblematic of the new modernity. Yves Saint Laurent, organized by FAMSF and The Montreal Museum of Fine Arts in collaboration with the Fondation Pierre Bergé-Yves Saint Laurent, explores the designs that made Saint Laurent famous, and his inspirations drawn from art, theatre, history, literature, and nature. This exhibition contains nearly 130 accessorized garments and sketches illustrating the lines, colors, and fundamentals of Saint Laurent’s work. This is the only U.S. venue. A catalogue accompanies this exhibition.

Sausalito Art Festival

Sausalito Art Festival
A couple weeks back i got a chance to go to the Sausalito Art Festival. I know what you're thinking.....Sausalito? Believe me I thought the same, however, this art festival has an amazing list of talent from around the globe. There are tents set up around the green grass and plenty of beer, wine, cocktails, seafood, salad, burgers, fries to go around. If you ever get a chance check it out.

I did get a chance to find some interesting art and artists, here are two:

Alajandro Martinez-Pena
If you cant tell by now I love abstract, and modern art. Alejandro has ABSOLUTELY HANDS DOWN BEAUTIFUL WORK. I say this with extreme enthusiasm! The moment I walked up to the tent I was mesmerized by the beautiful colors, and craftmanship. There was not one piece of art I did not like, all of which I would hang in my loft. Alajandro was also talkative and friendly, more approachable than the other artists

not too much info on him other than this from his website:
Name: Alejandro Martínez-Peña
Place of birth: Monterrey, N. L., México December 16-1957
and his contact info

http://www.martinez-pena.com/

The Promo for the festival:

Mark Stephenson
This guys pieces are HUGE. They are absolutely beautiful. I believe his pieces are photographs processed onto large canvases. What I enjoy the most of his pieces versus other pieces is the simplicity. Simple branches of nature on a black background, this is something I would hang in my house above the long dark wood dining wood table. Its modern, clean, and I heart it so.

more info on Mark:
Mark earned a BA in English with an emphasis on poetry and modern American literature at Colorado College, a terrific small liberal arts college nestled at the foot of Pikes Peak in the Rocky Mountains. Mark is now focus ing on creating photographic artwork I show and sell on the fine art festival circuit, in select galleries nation wide and by teaching photography and digital printmaking workshops at the Palm Springs Art Museum.

Viva La Vida, Coldplay Cover art

Gotta love the Brits, Coldplay and their new album, Viva La Vida.
The cover art work uses the painting La Liberté guidant le peuple by Eugene Delacroix of 1830. A goddess like woman personifies as Liberty, leads the people over the fallen bodies of the French Revolution. Here in the states the Statue of Liberty parallels as the American version, which by the way was given by the French. The Caravaggio influence use of light is an optimistic approach against the dark sentiment of war. It is currently held at the Louvre in Paris for viewers to enjoy.

La Liberté guidant le peuple (Liberty Leading the People), Eugène Delacroix, 1830.
both artwork can be found via. wikipedia

The title of the album "Viva La Vida" means long live life. Chris Martin discovered the term fitting after seeing it on a Frida Kahlo painting. “She went through a lot of shit, of course, and then she started a big painting in her house that said ‘Viva la Vida,’” says Martin. “I just loved the boldness of it.”-Chris Martin in Rolling Stone Mag.

On Esquire you can vote for the Best Dressed Real Man 2008. You can best describe his style as "Grown-Up, without taking myself seriously. Gotta love color".  Here are some NY stores to hit up, Franks Chop Shop and Brooklyn Industries. The Chop Shop double as an art gallery exhibition featuring this guy, Steve Ellis  and Shut Skateboards.
