This is definitely a shop worth stopping by and parousing the racks for. Out of the mayhem and traffic within the city of Chicago, Montana shop is located in the quaint area of Oak Parks. Luis, owner, is totally chill and also founded Montana Colors - a spray paint brand which you might remember when Gabriella from MAMA and Luis got together to release the "Hello My Name Is..." collab!
A bunch of my family lives in and around Chicago so I was pretty familiar with the suburbs, but when I met Luis while in Chitown I had to ask about his decision to open up in that area. He said this:
"In 1992 the sale of spray paint was outlawed in the City of Chicago, 18 years later we setup shop outside the city limits to not only provide the artistic needs of writers but to setup a store that shows that graffiti is more than pure vandalism..."
At Montana you can find clothing brands like In4mation, Alife, Mishka, Staple, Fiberops, 10Deep, Subware, Recon, WoodWood, Maharishi, Novem, Penfield, IRAK, Hundreds, WESC, Hellz Bellz, MOB, Tens, and more. They also carry a nice collection of vinyl goods, books, mags, and DVD's!
The space is pretty large since they also utilize the shop as a gallery...
