Dinner with the iDR ladies

We all decided to have a southern/cajun style dinner at ACME's and BOY OH BOY was it deeeeeeee-lish!

I was very motivated and inspired to be around these two very strong and intelligent women, and our goals for iDR will truly be a testament of what each of us brings to the site!

We would all like to thank our readers for continuously supporting us in our attempt to share with you our opinions, our ideas, and our passions.

iDR will only get better, so keep an eye out for upcoming interviews, product reviews, and more!!!

Coraline Movie

As I'm sure MANY of you have heard, the Coraline Movie, a tale written by Neil Gaiman, is set to release February 6th (yay!) and aside from it being a 3-D motion picture (which is always fun since I looove fantasy and animation) and directed by Henry Selick (who also directed two of my favs: James and the Giant Peach and The Nightmare Before Christmas), it also celebrates LAIKA Studio's first full-length film.

So, why the big hoohah over the film? Well, LAIKA's vision is "fueled" by Phil Knight which is exactly why Nike teamed up with the studio to create an awesome marketing tool to promote the film (thanks to creative geniuses Rob Heppler and Gian Galang) - limited Coraline Dunks!

I'd blab on about it, but almost every site has given much information about the movie and shoe that I wouldn't want to take any credit for the information I've just presented to you all lol, so make sure you click on their names to find out more about movie details, shoe release info, special codes, etc!

However, just to give you a taste and look of the Coraline Dunks, I'll present you with images from some of my friends who were fortunate enough to receive these bad boys (I believe all these guys got the "prop" sets)!

Jeff/Staple: Prop Set Box

Mark/Fatlace: Tree Shot

Wendy/Nitrolicious

*Also, make sure to watch the end of the movie for the credits so that you too can win these kicks!

MADE Jewelry

So I came across this company/blog not too long ago and I fell in love with several of their pieces below. Owned and designed by Abigail and Debbie, MADE Jewelry hails from the Bay Area (yee!) and in my opinion, truly expresses the San Francisco vibe - from organic materials like gems, stones, etc to pendants of bikes, "floss," and boomboxes - aaaah reminds me of the days I spent in Delores Park or wreaking havoc on Haight in my younger years =)

Anyway - make sure to check out their online shop as well as blog - these ladies are sure making moves!

Also, MADE is an avid supporter of iDR - yay!!!

OH! And here's a peek from their latest collection - check my girl Sia out modeling! =)

In God We Trust

After reading about this cute little shop, In God We Trust, in magazines and walking by it several times, I finally went in to check it out. I'm usually hesitant to go into little shops or boutiques because well they are usually really expensive or...they are really snobby...but I'm so glad me and Courts decided to venture in....

They have a great in-house label, In God We Trust, as well as other great labels such as Quail. Even better they have a great selection of accessories with cute bow headbands, pendant necklaces of knives or bows and arrows and some with trashy sayings like "kiss me where I pee" and "willing and able".

To top it off the shop girl was the very opposite of snobby :-)

I will be going back to get Kiel Mead's Forget-Me-Not Ring

14K Gold $225
Sterling Silver $65

& this Frenchie Dress by Quail

FYI: SAMPLE SALE!!!!

1.31 - 2.1
11 A - 6 P

BTW this dress will be included in the sale along with costume jewelry...but not the rest of the jewelry collection...darn.

Thanks to everyone who came last night!

We celebtrated iDR's One Year Anniversary last night and STAY was jam packed with tons of good people and great music - Elite Camp!!

Welcome Home Fashionable First Family!

The future is looking bright on all levels...Malia in blue and Sasha in coral and guava look so prim and proper in their Crew by J. crew fits. I expect all 3 outfits to sell out immediately in not already.

During the day Michelle looked Jackie Kennedy-esque, while in the evening Michelle looked like the modern woman that she is in Jason Wu. With the couple dancing their first dance at the Neighborhood Ball, while Beyonce sang At Last, it looked like a newlywed couple dancing their first dance. :-)

I safely made it back to NYC in the best 24hr turn-a-round road trip in history...literally!! I'm uploading pics right now so I can give you a recap of my experience at the National Mall.

New President, LOST premieres tonight, iDR's 1st Bday...what a great week...lol!

Michelle Obama wears Isabel Toledo & Jason Wu

Michelle and Barack Obama

You gotta give it up to the First Lady, Michelle Obama because she did not choose a dress by an American designer. No. She chose a Cuban born women designer, Isabel Toledo. I came across her work by the work of her husband, Ruben Toledo. Ruben Toledo does beautiful illustration work for books-such as Nina Garcias One Hundred, as well as Nordstrom catalogs. You can see that the love for creativity is alive in their marriage because Isabels work is different. Her work is fresh and represents the modern women. It is noted that she paired it with green gloves from J Crew and Jimmy Choo heels. She dresses like us because she is one of us..mixing Hi and Lo designer items! I love it!

Isabel and Ruben Toledo

Now for evening she chose Jason Wu's white, one shoulder gown. Now i don't remember the previous first wives looking this hot, do you? Our first lady shows us sexy can be done tastefully and with grace. For a woman in her 40s in her position (a career practicing law, mother of 2, now first lady) she looks fabulous. She represents what women should strive for--a balance of the factors in life. No one has executed this kind of style on this occasion. I applaud her. A little info on Jason Wu...he was once designing for dolls for Integrity Toys, until he was discovered by Percy Newsom (a judge for a fashion doll contest) who later had Jason freelance. Freelance lead into full time Creative Director then lead Fashion designer. The rest is history

Drawing is Thinking

For more than fifty years Milton Glaser has designed much of the world we experience every day. His posters, books, albums, restaurants, advertisements, and so much more have made him the preeminent force in design in America. Drawing upon an amazing vocabulary of images and techniques, Glaser has now created his most personal book.

Based on his view that all art has its origin in the impulse to create--primarily through drawing--he has designed a book that powerfully delineates this idea. In Drawing is Thinking, the drawings depicted are meant to be experienced sequentially, so that the viewer not only follows Glaser through these pages, but comes to inhabit his mind. The drawings represent a range of subject matter taken from throughout Glaser's career. They illustrate the author's commitment to the fundamental idea that drawing is not simply a way to represent reality, but a way to understand and experience the world.

Glaser's two signature books, Graphic Design and Art is Work, both published by Overlook, are still in print decades after their first appearance. Each displays his work with short descriptions of how the work came about. But in Drawing is Thinking, the author is less interested in display and more concerned with how the mind works to visually represent reality.

By the way Milton Glaser came up the famous I HEART NY, but he is known for so much more. Check it out!

Get on The List

Dean's List. A-List. Guest List. Nice List. Hermes Birkin Bag Waiting List. And yet another coveted list to get on.

The List @ Revolve Clothing

So far there are just these 2 items available on The List...

Alex & Chloe
Forever Wedding Rings
W: $1892 M: $1804

These are too cute. Just might be enough to take the spotlight away from the engagement ring, and actually focus on the more meaningful symbol of marriage and the union of two people in love.

Goyard Trunk by Assouline
A mere $20,000

At this very moment there is one of these trunks left, but not sure if they are just saying that to make it seem like it is in demand, just like they make people wait in line for a club when there is barely anyone inside...

Just too unbelievable to spend this kind of money right now.
